Organizers in Walker and Winston County are kicking off their annual renew Our Rivers cleanups on Smith lake today.
This year’s campaign will run June 17-18 and volunteers are asked to meet at one of three coordination points each morning at 8 a.m. Organizers plan on working until 4 p.m. this afternoon and will wrap up at 1 p.m. tomorrow with a picnic lunch at the Clear Creek Recreational Area.

Directions to Clear Creek Recreation Area
From Jasper – Follow Alabama Highway 195 north for approximately 4.5 miles. Turn right onto Fall City Road at the Clear Creek Recreational Area sign. Travel north on Fall City Road for 8.1 miles.
Directions to Lakeshore Inn and Marina
From Jasper – Take Alabama 195 north for 25 miles. Turn right onto Highway 278/Alabama 74. Travel eight miles and turn right onto Lakeshore Drive.
Directions to Old Yellow Creek Marina
From Jasper – Take Curry Highway/ Alabama 257 north. Curry Highway becomes County Road 41. Turn left onto County Road 63. County Road 63 becomes County Road 61. Take slight right onto Loon Lane. Take the first right. Take the first left onto Lark Drive.
