Plant Gorgas is having its first Renew Our Rivers cleanup on Friday, Aug. 27 on the Warrior River, Mulberry Fork area. More than 50 volunteers have signed up, mostly employees, but everyone is welcome!
Tracie Hill, team leader of compliance, is organizing this effort and went for a boat ride earlier today to look for any large items that might need to be handled prior to the cleanup. She found a few piers, a large propane tank, a deep freezer and an abandoned 20 foot boat!
Plant Gorgas is excited about this event, shown in the number of employees already “on board”. If you would like to volunteer, contact Tracie Hill at 205-686-2305. Volunteers will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the boat launch behind the plant. Please wear work clothes consisting of long pants, shoes you don’t mind getting wet and bring some heavy duty work gloves. Personal floatation devices and lunch will be provided.
